Africa Day. Conference: 'The Implications of the Mattei Plan for African Development', Rome, May 22, 2024
On the occasion of World Africa Day, we are pleased to invite you to a meeting for reflection and dialogue on the implications of the 'Mattei Plan' for African development. At the heart of the discussion is the crucial role of education for authentic and sustainable growth. The meeting will also reflect on how the Mattei Plan can transform the relationship between Italy and Africa, promoting joint development that is beneficial for both parties. It will be an opportunity to analyze how a collaborative approach can effectively influence development dynamics in Africa, discussing the opportunities and challenges it entails.
The meeting will feature the participation of H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Kombo, Ambassador of the Republic of Tanzania; Prof. Celestino Victor Mussomar, President of the Center for African Studies in Italy-CeSAI; Father Giulio Albanese, Member of the Council of the Section for Relations with States and International Organizations of the Holy See's Secretariat of State; and Dr. Carlo Papa, Managing Director of the Enel Foundation.
World Africa Day - celebrated every year on May 25 - commemorates the anniversary of the founding of the Organization of African Unity in 1963, later called the African Union in 2002. "It has been more than twenty years since the formation of the AU, which has meant great achievements even from a pan-African perspective; understanding what direction African countries are taking is necessarily something that concerns everyone".
The meeting will take place in Rome, at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, Aula Minor, 1st Floor. Piazza Sant'Apollinare 49, at 11:30 AM.
