Promoter
Monkole Hospital, an initiative of the non-profit organization CECFOR, is currently a reference health center for the Democratic Republic of Congo and Central Africa. Located on the outskirts of Kinshasa, it receives more than 80,000 patient visits annually.
Context
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is experiencing a worrying socio-economic situation. According to several reports, the country appears at the bottom of the United Nations Human Development Index (HDI); maternal, newborn and child mortality rates are among the highest in the world. Monkole Hospital's mission is to provide quality health care to the entire population, especially the disadvantaged in its area (450,000 inhabitants), facilitating access to health services through a series of social health programs.
Activities
The objective of the project is to reduce the high rates of maternal and child mortality through the care of patients from the beginning of pregnancy, with prenatal consultations, ultrasounds, natural or cesarean delivery, postnatal consultations and treatment of possible neonatal problems.
