The 2024 fundraising campaign for 8 local development initiatives in Africa is underway

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda, especially those related to quality education (Goal 4), gender equality (Goal 5), decent work and economic growth (Goal 8), and the reduction of inequalities (Goal 10), Harambee launches its 2024 fundraising campaign to support activities aimed at achieving these crucial goals. The initiatives selected by the Harambee Committees are led by local African entities tirelessly working to improve the living conditions of people in particularly difficult situations. Harambee's approach is one of temporary support, aimed at strengthening the actions of these organizations to ensure a lasting and sustainable impact at the local level. Five countries are involved: DR Congo, Ivory Coast, Togo, Burundi, Uganda. In more detail:
  • Inclusive Education in the provinces of South Kivu and Tanganyika, DR Congo - Promoted by AWCY, this project focuses on the reintegration into education and professional training of 250 children, with an investment of € 18,000.
  • Integration for Young People with Hearing Disabilities in South Kivu, DR Congo - Managed by AJPID asbl, it is dedicated to the education of people with hearing disabilities, with a contribution of € 18,000.
  • Rebuilding Lives: Help for Street Children in Lomé, Togo - The Mouvement d’Action pour la Réinsertion des Enfants Marginalisés - Marem aims to build a new reception facility, with a contribution of € 18,000.
  • Strengthening Technical Education in Bururi, Burundi - The Ecole Technique Secondaire Saint Joseph de Kiryama - Kiryama ETS with a contribution of € 20,000 to improve technical education.
  • Skills for the Future: Sport and Work in Kampala, Uganda - Golden Boots promotes soft skills through sport in 15 professional institutes, with support of € 20,000.
  • Support in the Fight Against Sickle Cell Disease in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast - AIFUP is committed to educational activities and medical support, with funding of € 31,000.
  • Educational Empowerment and Socioeconomic Development in the Peripheries, Ivory Coast - Coup d’Pouce-Agir Afrique requires a contribution of € 22,664 to reduce inequalities and poverty through education.
  • Economic Development through Environmental Conservation in Monogaga, Ivory Coast - Conservation des Espèces Marines (CEM) requires a contribution of € 15,000 for the creation of job opportunities related to the conservation of sea turtles. Concrete solidarity initiatives, which not only address immediate problems but also lay the foundations for continuous growth and improvement in local communities.
