Harambee and Strathmore Business School: A Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen Sustainable Development.
In the context of a growing commitment to sustainable development in Africa, we are pleased to announce the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Strathmore Business School in Nairobi, strengthening a collaboration that has already been fruitful for several years. This agreement marks a crucial moment, not only for the parties directly involved but also for the current Italian context, which sees the launch of the "Mattei Plan for Africa" by the Italian Government. This initiative aims to promote the development of the African continent through an equal partnership, a principle that Harambee has always supported and promoted.
The memorandum of understanding between Harambee and Strathmore Business School fits perfectly into this scenario, aiming to define joint actions to promote sustainable development, the creation of job opportunities in African countries, and deepening knowledge about Africa. Both parties commit to actively collaborate within the framework of the 2030 Agenda for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, with particular attention to high-level training of local human resources and the creation of employment for young people with high entrepreneurial potential.
"This collaboration takes on even greater significance in the context of the Mattei Plan for Africa," explains Manuel Sanchez, Vice President of Harambee, "which proposes a development model based on partnership and the recognition of Africa as a leading actor in its own future. The signing of the memorandum with Strathmore Business School represents a concrete example of how development strategies must be rooted in local reality and respect the continent's diversity, actively involving Africans in defining solutions to the challenges they face."
Harambee Foundation, with twenty years of experience in supporting educational and training projects in Sub-Saharan Africa, and Strathmore Business School, committed to promoting higher education and socio-economic development in Kenya and Africa, thus commit to joining forces for a common goal: a future of sustainable development for Africa, led by African solutions.
Through this agreement, Harambee and Strathmore Business School intend to explore the possibility of creating partnerships between relevant stakeholders in Italy and Kenya, thereby contributing to the construction of a bridge between the two continents founded on mutual knowledge, respect, and constructive collaboration.
The signing of this memorandum of understanding is not only a step forward in the collaboration between Harambee and Strathmore Business School but also a strong signal of the willingness to go beyond assistentialist approaches, promoting instead a development model that sees Africa as an active partner and protagonist of its own destiny.
